Es handelt sich um eine Umlaufmünze.
Der Avers zeigt das Nominal "1 MARK", umgeben von zwei Eichenzweigen (rechts und links), der Jahreszahl 1982 (unten) und dem Kürzel der Prägestätte A (oben).
Auf dem Revers befindet sich zentral das Staatswappen der DDR, umgeben vom Landesnamen "DEUTSCHE DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK".
Der Rand enthält dreizehn Sterne.
