Die große Freilandfundstelle des Gravettien bei Bilzingsleben ist eine bisher einmalige Erscheinung zwischen dem Siedlungsgebiet des westlichen Gravettien im westlichen Mittel- und Westeuropa sowie des östlichen Gravettien von Niederösterreich über Mähren und Südpolen bis Osteuropa. Sie verweist darauf, dass das bisher weitgehend fundleere Zwischengebiet durchwandert wurde. Interessant ist, dass im Steingeräteinventar der Fundstelle von Bilzingsleben Elemente des östlichen Gravettien (sog. Kostienkimesser) gemeinsam mit solchen des westlichen Gravettien (gestielte Geschoßspitzen vom Typ Font Robert) vorkommen. Drei solche gestielte Geschoßspitze vom Typ Font Robert aus dem Inventar des westlichen Gravettien sind hier abgebildet.
