Am 8. Februar 1829 riefen unter der Leitung des Kantors Ernst Hauer 12 Lehrer eine Liedertafel ins Leben. Die Liedertafel war in Halberstadt und Umgebung dank ihres hervorragenden Könnens schnell bekannt. Leiter war neben Hauer (1787-1844) auch Carl Elis (1799-1859). Zur Feier des 25-jährigen Bestehens der Liedertafel im Jahr 1854 wurde diese Medaille gestiftet. (Heinevetter)
