Ab 1916 wurde die Bevölkerung in reichsweiten Sammlungen zur Herausgabe von Hausgerätschaften aus Kupfer, Messing, Bronze und Zinn genötigt. Im Gegenzug erhielten die Einlieferer vielerorts aus Eisenguss gefertigte Mörser oder Pfannen. Diese waren mit entsprechender patriotischer Widmung versehen. Inschrift „DER DEUTSCHEN HAUSFRAU OPFERSINN GAB KUPFER FÜR DAS EISEN HIN / IM WELTKRIEG 1916“. Am Stielansatz ein reliefiertes Figurenpaar: Soldat und Hausfrau reichen sich die Hand.
