Die Radierung zeigt einen Ausschnitt der Ruine des Asklepios-Tempels in Epidaurus (Peloponnes, Griechenland). Zu sehen ist der Unterbau und - in stark verkürzter Perspektive - die wiedererichtete Ecksituation mit dorischen Säulen und Ansatz des Giebels. Im Hintergrund erhebt sich das Gebirge. Die Hell-Dunkel-Schattierungen in der Grafik verleihen dem Bild eine besondere Stimmung.
